We own a detached house whose cellar area was very damp. In 2002 we opted for electrophysical wall drying, because this system covers every area in the cellar.
Other systems failed to convince us, as their effectiveness always reached its limits (e.g. stairs, floor slab, wall thicknesses) and no information could dispel our concerns in this regard. After about 3 years, the moisture rising up and penetrating from outside had receded to the cellar floor. The bathroom located in the cellar area has since been renovated. The staircase and cellar hallway have been fitted with wallpaper and a coat of paint.
We have not regretted our decision, as installing the Drymat device has successfully dried out the cellar area. (December 2009)
 
Incidentally, our son has had the same good experiences in his large detached house.
