Wall drying commercial property Takko Mittweida.

In this commercial property, a section of an exterior wall was affected by rising damp.

The moisture penetrating the masonry led to salt efflorescence on the surface. This occurred because, on its way through the masonry, the rising water carried soluble salts from the soil and from the building material itself. At the wall surface the water evaporated, the salts crystallised out and formed visible white deposits.

The affected area showed typical signs of damage:

  • Flaking plaster
  • Damp patches
  • Colour changes
  • In places also spalling on the masonry

Restoration measure with the Drymat system

To dry out the affected exterior wall sustainably, we installed our patented Drymat system. Thanks to its special design, the system acts actively against rising damp and ensures that the waterproofing plane extends to below the foundation. This achieves an interruption of the moisture transport in the capillary region of the masonry.

A decisive advantage lies in the technical execution:

Each installed anode of high-quality precious metal is additionally fitted with a varistor. This ensures an even electron flow - thereby guaranteeing an even and controlled dehumidification of the masonry.
