The house was the plot next door, built around 1930. It was up for sale and so I bought it as well.

The basement was really wet; nothing had ever been done about it in all those decades, and the problem was that some of the exterior walls were no longer accessible. So drying out by digging was out of the question.

I obtained a great many quotes for all kinds of methods, but I was not really convinced. Until I became aware of the company Drymat through a newspaper advertisement. The Hermitage really won me over; if that can be dried out, then my new house certainly can too, I thought.

A surveyor from the company measured up the house, advised me and gave me a cost estimate for a drying system with precious-metal electrodes. At last I had a complete solution against rising damp for my house.

The Drymat system was then installed and measuring points were set up. After one year, a colleague from the company came to take follow-up measurements. The readings had already dropped significantly. To my surprise, two additional precious-metal electrodes were fitted, as they were not entirely satisfied with the result in one corner.

A second follow-up measurement was now carried out and the entire basement is almost consistently dried out (after 13 months).

I would never have thought drying out could be so quick, and I can only recommend the company Drymat and its systems.
